The Envision Board is pleased to share details of the projects funded for 2015.

Development of a Church Property Master Plan

The goal of this project is to establish a master plan which includes design concepts for use by those proposing projects for the church property.  The intention is to provide an esthetic, welcoming appearance to the church, to encourage well-planned and coordinated use and to minimize the environmental impact of the property.  A “blueprint” will be developed utilizing the expertise of a professional landscape designer. The sponsors of this project are Susan Hutton and Ron Gunderson.  The project will receive $6,100 over 2 years.

Institute of Worship, Preaching and Sacred Arts

This project will help establish a collaborative learning environment where clergy, musicians, scholars and lay people can refresh their theological understanding of worship through the unique lens of the African American religious experience. The Institute of Worship, Preaching and Sacred Arts is being developed by the Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary, of which our minister, Ken Kovacs, is a board member. It will construct and offer unique on-line courses which are expected to be available to CPC members. This project was submitted by Crystal M. Cherry of the Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary.  Rev. Dr. Ken Kovacs is the CPC sponsor.  The project will receive $5,000.

The goal of this project is to provide supplemental support to guests of the West Side Shelter. They are in need of assistance with items such as clothing and bus tokens which are necessary   in their search for meaningful employment and reintegration into the community.  The sponsor of this project is Andrea Ratajaczak, of the Lazarus Caucus.  Sheri Comisac is the CPC sponsor. The project will receive $8,000.

Reestablishment of a Welcoming Traditional Cribbery

It will supplement the current child care options.  The project will receive $4,650 over 2 years and was submitted by Julie Oaks Jones.
