Order of Worship

Service for the Lord’s Day

Gathering around the word

Prelude: Organ Sonata in G Major, K.328, Domenico Scarlatti

† Call to Worship

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ,
the love of God,
and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
And with your spirit.

The psalmist cried, “I was glad when they said to me, let us go up into the house of the Lord.”
This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

Come, let us worship God!

† Hymn #1, “Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty”

Prayer of Adoration

Prayer of confession & Assurance of Pardon (Iona Form)

Before God, with the people of God, I confess to my brokenness:
to the ways I wound my life, the lives of others and the life of the world,
May God forgive you, Christ renew you,
and the Spirit enable you to grow in love.
Amen.

Before God, with the people of God, we confess to our brokenness:
to the ways we wound our lives, the lives of others and the life of the world.
May God forgive you, Christ renew you, and the Spirit enable you to grow in love.
Amen.

† Response: Hymn #582, “Glory To God, Whose Goodness Shines on Me”

Call to Offering

Offering of Tithes and Gifts

OffertorY, Look at the World, John Rutter

Look at the world, ev’rything all around us:
Look at the world and marvel ev’ry day.
Look at the world: so many joys and wonders,
So many miracles along our way.

Refrain:
Praise to thee, O Lord, for all creation,
Give us thankful hearts that we may see:
All the gifts we share, and every blessing,
All things come of thee.

Look at the earth bringing forth fruit and flower;
Look at the sky, the sunshine and the rain;
Look at the hills, look at the trees and mountains,
Valley and flowing river, field and plain: [Refrain]

Think of the spring, think of the warmth of summer
Bringing the harvest before winter’s cold.
Ev’rything grows, ev’rything has a season,
till it is gathered to the Father’s fold: [Refrain]

Every good gift, all that we need and cherish
Comes from the Lord in token of his love;
We are his hands, stewards of all his bounty;
His is the earth, and his the heav’ns above: [Refrain]

† Doxology #607, “Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow”

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Christ, all people here below;
Praise Holy Spirit evermore;
Praise Triune God, whom we adore. Amen.

† Prayer of Dedication

Blessed are you, O God, maker of all things. Through your goodness, you have blessed us with these gifts: our selves, our time, and our possessions.

Use us, and what we have gathered, in feeding the world with your love; through the one who gave himself for us, Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Prayers of the People & the Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power
and the glory, forever. Amen.

† Hymn #485, “We Know that Christ is Raised”

† Charge & Benediction

The eternal Creator calls us.
The risen Savior sends us.

The dynamic Spirit empowers us, to go into the world.

Through baptism, you are one with Christ.
Christ will be with you always.

Through baptism, you have received the Holy Spirit.
She breathes you into new life.

Through baptism, you are sealed in the love of God, who will keep you forever.
Thanks be to God!

Catonsville Pride

The fourth annual Catonsville Pride festival is on June 15 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. across our church grounds. The family-centered celebration will include live music, ice cream, pony rides, face painting, kid’s crafts, a story time, lawn games, and a silent auction. We will join Salem Lutheran, the Community of St. Dysmas, and St. John’s Grace UCC at a table of open and affirming congregations.

Exciting Changes to the Child Care Center

“Catonsville Presbyterian Church Family Child Care Center” is a very long name. For years (or perhaps decades) the families of the center and the wider Catonsville community have nicknamed it “Presby.” We are excited to announce that the Child Care Council has officially changed the name of our child care center to Presby Child Care Center. This change will be announced to the wider community and celebrated at the beginning of June. Along with the name change, we will launch a revitalized website and new logo.
