Contemplative Prayer: Hybrid Gathering

  • Date: Monday, May 6, 2024
  • Time: 7:00pm7:45pm
  • Location: Zoom Online Meeting

Contemplative prayer draws our awareness to the deep presence and movement of God in our hearts, minds, and bodies—all of who we are. In contemplative prayer, we spend time listening rather than speaking, allowing our attention to soften, quiet, and move inward.

Each week during contemplative listening, members will engage in loosely-guided practices of listening, prayer, and meditation. You’re encouraged to make your surroundings peaceful, restorative, calming, by lighting a candle, sinking into a comfortable chair, and reducing distractions from your phone or household.

This gathering will be hybrid, meeting in the France room and via Zoom.

Now there was a great wind, so strong that it was splitting mountains and breaking rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind, and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake, and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire, and after the fire a sound of sheer silence. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. Then there came a voice to him.
