Written by the apostle Paul, or one of his disciples, to Christians living in and around Ephesus, the book of Ephesians celebrates the life of the church, a unique community established by God through the work of Jesus Christ.

Reconciliation with God through Christ paves the way for new ways of relating among believers, living in community and in unity.

The letter attests to the power and presence of Christ, who continues to tear down the walls that divide us to form us into one household of God. We—individually and together—are being built in and through love into a dwelling place for God (Eph. 2:22). This is what we are being called toward as a church. And “speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promote the body’s growth in building itself up in love” (Eph.4:15-16).
