Worship: Guest Preacher – Rev. Dr. Laurie Kraus
- Date: Sunday, June 16, 2019
- Time: 9:30am–10:30am
- Location: Fellowship Hall
We welcome back the Rev. Dr. Laurie Kraus, our guest preacher on June 16. A good friend of the congregation, Laurie is the director of Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) in the PCUSA national
offices in Louisville, KY. PDA enables congregations and mission partners of the PC(USA) to witness the healing love of Christ through caring for communities adversely affected by crises and catastrophic events, both nationally and globally. Laurie served as a pastor with congregations in New York, Miami, and Florida for thirty years. She’s also a certified spiritual director and a trauma and compassion fatigue specialist. Laurie is the author of two books, Recovering from UnNatural Disaster (Westminster John Knox Press, 2017) and Tuning My Heart (Wifp and Stock, 2008), a collection of articles, poems, and sermons.
Our worship services are intended for all people. During the summer months, we gather in Fellowship Hall where the space is fully air conditioned. It’s a little less formal and people move around and sit with people they may not get a chance to visit with during the rest of the year. Communion is served the first Sunday of the month.
We worship as the entire family of God as an intergenerational congregation. Children are encouraged to worship with their parents as part of the congregation. Specialized bulletins are available to guide them through the service and “worship packets” help keep them engaged. For the very young, childcare is available during the service.
There is an accessible entrance with a ramp that is reached from the Frederick Road small parking lot. Accessible restrooms are available as well. Large print bulletins and hearing assistance earphones are provided in the rear of Fellowship Hall.
