In 2000, acclaimed author Reynolds Price (1933-2011) became honorary godfather to Harper Peck Voll. Price composed a letter to the child as a baptism gift, one intended as a brief guide for Harper’s spiritual future. “Dear Harper: A Letter to a Godchild About God,” sketched the crucial roles that faith had played in Price’s life and whittled down those lessons the author felt were most valuable. Price was an American poet, novelist, dramatist, essayist, and James B. Duke Professor of English at Duke University. Apart from English literature, Price had a lifelong interest in Biblical scholarship and wrote eloquently about the Christian life. Led by Linda Meyer.
