The apostle Paul frequently talks about believers being “in Christ.” Theologians refer to this experience as participation in, and union with, Christ. What did participating in Christ mean for Paul? What are the implications for us today, both as individuals and as a church? On February 23, Prof. Michael J. Gorman of St. Mary’s Seminary & University in Baltimore will address these topics. Mike has recently published a book titled Participating in Christ: Explorations in Paul’s Theology and Spirituality (Grand Rapids: Baker Academic) and a booklet called Participation: Paul’s Vision of Life in Christ (Cambridge, Eng.: Grove Books). A chapter from the book appeared in The Christian Century last summer.
