We Choose Welcome: Brunch & Guest Speaker on Local Program for Asylum Seekers

The Mission Committee invites you to a special brunch program on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at 10:45 am with Tiffany Nelms, the Executive Director of Asylee Women Enterprise in Baltimore. Asylee Women Enterprise journeys with asylum seekers as they navigate the immigration legal process, begin to heal from past trauma and rebuild their lives. Emergency and transitional housing is provided through a network of hosts and weekday programs including classes in English as a second language, job readiness, parenting skills, and wellness activities. AWE focuses on the importance of companionship and community where asylum seekers offer mutual support in a safe and supportive environment. Learn more about Asylee Women Enterprise.
The special brunch program on Sunday, June 30, will begin immediately following worship at 10:45 am in the France Room. The brunch is open to all ages and childcare will be available during the program. Join us as we consider how partnering with AWE offers opportunities for us to live out our commitment to choose welcome. Please RSVP in advance to request childcare or to bring food to share by signing up after worship.
